Mrs. Betty Catherine Harmon-Watson was Promoted to Glory on Sunday, December 17, 2017 early in the morning surrounded by family.
Visitation will be at Wilkinson Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19th from 6-8PM. The celebration of life service will be officiated by Major Ted Morris III and held at The Salvation Army Concord Corps on Wednesday, December 20th at 2PM, with burial to follow at West Concord Cemetery.
Mrs. Betty Watson was born on October 1, 1928 to Mable & Virgil Henthorne in Parkersburg, WV. Betty was raised in The Salvation Army and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young girl in a Salvation Army program. Betty served in several Local Officer leadership positions in the Corps that she attended.
Mrs. Betty Watson is preceded in death by her late husband, Major Gilbert Watson (R); her son Major Michael Harmon (R); her daughters Ernestine Kay Phillips and Betty Mae Harmon; her sisters Barbara Varner, Martha ‘Tootie’ Varney, and Helen Case; and grandson Frederick ‘Robby’ E. Shields III.
Mrs. Betty Watson is survived by her two sons, Theodore C. Harmon, Terry L. Harmon; her daughter, Pamela D. Whitaker; daughter-in-law, Major Linda Harmon (R); son-in-law, Kenneth P. Phillips; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; she also is survived by multiple nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Betty Watson lived an exemplary Christian life and served her Savior faithfully for over 80 years. Many lives were touched by Mrs. Watson through her love for God and those that she came into contact with.
