Betty Jean Gillespie Kluttz Sethna, 87, of Concord passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Atrium NorthEast.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Cheryl Skinner officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 prior to the service at the church.
Born on December 30, 1930 in Delaware County, PA, Betty was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Barnhardt Gillespie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ben Sethna; brother, Melvin Gillespie; and her children’s father, George W. Kluttz, Sr.
She was a member of the Cabarrus County Home Extension, the Red Hat Society, a volunteer at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, and was a longtime member of Mt. Olivet UMC where she sang in the choir. Betty loved to sew, cook, and bake.
She is survived by her children, George Wesley Kluttz, Jr and wife,Vicki, Amy K. Whitley and husband, Farrell, and John Mark Kluttz; grandchildren, Andrew “Andy” Mark Kluttz, Justin Whitley and Elliott Whitley; great-grandchildren, Jakob, Ayden, Lorelai, Sutton and Ezra; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
