Mrs. Betty Sue Hutchins Lockhart passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at The Gardens of Taylor Glen.
Betty Sue was the youngest of 10 children in the Hutchins family of Hillsborough, NC. She graduated from Hillsborough High School and Crofts School of Business. She was office manager in the Duke Department of Urology.
At Duke, she met and married David A. Lockhart while he was in medical school. Their loving marriage produced 5 children, with 4 surviving today. Dave’s pediatric practice brought the family to Concord in 1952. Betty Sue raised her family and became very involved in her beloved town of Concord. She served in the Concord Junior Charity League, served on the CHS Medical Center Foundation Board, CHS Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer, Cabarrus Arts Council, Historic Cabarrus Association, Friend of the Library. For over 60 years, she was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and was involved in many capacities there. For over 50 years, she was a member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club, her bridge club and her book club.
Betty Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. David A. Lockhart and a daughter, Susan Lockhart. She is survived by 4 children, David A Lockhart, Jr (Vicki), Becky Lockhart McCall (James), Jenny Lockhart Ritchie (Doug), Malcolm W Lockhart (Ann). Betty Sue was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. One of her greatest prides in life was her family who now join with love to offer her soul to God.
Her family would like to thank the staff and management of Taylor Glen for the care and comfort they provided to Betty Sue and the family.
The funeral service for Betty Sue will be at All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday, July 28 at 3 PM. The family will receive friends in the Living Room following the service.
