Betty Jean Blackwelder Clay

CONCORD- Betty Jean Blackwelder Clay, 81 passed away on February 26, 2022.

Her funeral will be 2pm Wednesday, March 2, at West Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Farley officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 1 to 2pm.

Betty was born in Cabarrus County on May 24, 1940 to Jacob Clifford “J.C.” and Bessie Smith Blackwelder. She was a member of West Concord Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to duck shows and promoting her husband’s duck decoys. She loved fishing, lighthouses, and going to the beach. She had a natural love for children.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jimmy Wayne Clay; daughter, Teresa C. Beckworth(Richie); son, Kenneth Wayne Clay(Linda); sister, Kay Shoe; brother David Blackwelder; grandchildren, Jacob Heintz, John Heintz, Tyler Clay, Matthew Clay, and Kimberly Smith; and great grandchildren, Brooks, Reagan, Braxton, Aurora, Hartmann, and Gatlyn.

Memorials may be made to West Concord Baptist Building Fund, 225 Warren C Coleman Blvd, Concord NC 28027.
