Mrs. Betty Helms Baggarly, age 88, formerly of Bullrun, Concord, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Morningside Assisted Living Center.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, December 26 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, December 27 at Howells Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Pinkley officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of her son, Eric Baggarly at 5144 Beckenham Lane, Concord the remaining time.
Mrs. Baggarly was born October 4, 1928 in Gaston County, a daughter to the late Calvin and Edna Furr Helms. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bruce W. Baggarly, Sr; step-daughter, Carol Ann Baggarly McEachern; siblings, Helen Carpenter, George “Bub” Helms, Lona Jonas and Earl Helms; brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Walker.
Betty attended Harrisburg High School and for more than 50 years, she was the owner of Betty’s Beauty Shop. She was also a longtime member of Howells Baptist Church. Betty loved being with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lita B. Morrison and husband, Johnny of Midland, Bruce W. Baggarly, Jr. and wife, Pat of Marietta, Ga and Eric S. Baggarly and wife, Cindy of Concord; 7 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Elsie Walker and husband, Jimmy, Margie Walker and Calvin “June” Helms, Jr. and wife, Sara, all of Concord and a large extended family who loved Betty and will miss her.
