Mrs. Arjorie Tench Fields, aged 88, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, in the loving embrace of her family at her home. Arjorie's memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Arjorie will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, located at 598 Hwy 49, Concord, NC 28025. Following the service, the family will be available to greet friends, offering a time for shared remembrances and support.
Arjorie was born on July 24, 1935, in Demorest, GA, to the late Ida Belle Crumbly Tench and Vonie Ezelle Burton Tench. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald N. Cooke, Sr., her second husband, James “Jim” Miller Fields, and her siblings, Ovalene Fulcher, Merle Cook, Vera Crout, and Grafford Tench.
Throughout her life, Arjorie touched many hearts and made a positive impact in her community. She dedicated years of service as a payroll clerk for the Merita Bread Company and later became a beloved sampler at Wal-Mart during her retirement. Arjorie’s unwavering faith led her to be a faithful servant at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, where she was an auxiliary and full-time pioneer. She also attended numerous international conventions, strengthening her connection to her faith.
Arjorie had a passion for cooking and was known for her delectable creations. She delighted in preparing meals for family gatherings and spoiling her grandchildren with cakes, bacon, and mac-n-cheese. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively, from family beach vacations to the scenic landscapes of Alaska with friends. Arjorie nurtured a beautiful garden, tending to tomatoes, cucumbers, and various other vegetables. She had a generous collection of owls, played the organ at home only, and loved music.
Arjorie is survived by her son, Donald “Donnie” N. Cooke, Jr., and his wife, Colleen, of Charlotte, her daughter, Shannon L. Lyles, and her husband, Bobby, of Concord, her sister, Ione Farrow of Savannah, GA, her grandchildren, Audy Indrieri and husband, Tony, Josh Cooke and wife, Diana, Omar Williams and wife, Elizabeth, Brandee Lopes and husband, Thiago, Brianna Lyles, as well as 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
