Annette Worley Garner, 79, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Best of Care Assisted Living in Kannapolis.
A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Tim Bostick. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
Annette was born on December 18, 1936 in Hayesville, NC to the late and Carrie Ledford Worley and Harley Worley. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Earl S. Owens; second husband, Charles M. Garner.; and 7 brothers.
Annette was an elementary school teacher in Charlotte, then a teacher and principal for many years at Havelock Elementary. She won "Teacher of the Year", then “Principal of the Year”, and touched the lives of many young children and their parents. Reading was one of her favorite hobbies and she also enjoyed spending time with her family and camping.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Brown and husband, Mark; son, Stuart Owens and wife, Mercedes; grandchildren, Justin Brown, Jason Brown; great-grandchildren, Peayton and Daniel Brown;step-grandchildren, Kayla Garner, Lauren Garner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
