Ms. Anne “Mimi” Towery Reece of Concord, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at NorthEast Medical Center.
A memorial service to honor her life will be 4 PM Saturday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev Suzanne Dornsmith. The family will receive friends beginning at 3 PM at the funeral home.
Anne was born October 21, 1951 in Concord to the late Eugene S. Towery, Jr. and Mary Dell Long Towery. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Towery and sister, Caroline Elizabeth Towery.
Anne was a member of the Concord High School Class of 1970 and loved Spiders athletics. In her earlier career, Anne worked in the accounting department of J. B. Ivey, Inc. (Ivey’s). She was part of the Charlotte Opera for several years and sang in The Singing Christmas Tree in Charlotte.
Anne later fulfilled her passion for helping others when she became an emergency medical technician. She worked for Rowan County EMS as a paramedic for over 10 years. She also worked with Medic on the special events team at Time Warner Cable arena. For many years, Anne was also a member of Cabarrus Rescue Squad where she volunteered much of her time. Anne also spent several years as the Athletic Trainer at Concord High School.
In November of 1999, in the midst of her busy life, she began her favorite job of all, being a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren, Peyton and Brice and spent as much time as possible with them. She attended all of their school and sporting events, from cheerleading competitions to football games, until she was no longer able.
Anne is survived by her husband, Thomas Troutman of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Foley Boyd and her husband Robbie; and grandchildren, Peyton Boyd and Brice Boyd, all of Concord; niece, Lauren Towery of Portland, OR; and several special cousins, Ray and Anne Lancaster of Annapolis, MD, and their children, Marianna Lancaster and husband Mark Anstine, Beth L. Halloran and husband Barry, and Rob Lancaster and wife Pauline; and other cousins, Julie Long Mongiovi of Lancaster, PA and Ann Gibson of Concord.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Concord High School with the memo “In Memory of Anne/Mimi Towery Reece” At 481 Burrage Rd. NE, Concord, NC 28025
