Amanda "Mandy" Jean Woodside Harvey May 11, 1944 -August 24, 2022
Mrs. Mandy Harvey (78) of Woodland Drive, Concord, has lost her battle with dementia.
Mandy obtained degrees in psychology and sociology from Mary Washington College. She spent her working life using them to help others.
Mandy's first effort was working in personnel at the Pentagon. Then after marrying in 1967 she moved to Concord and got a job with Vocational Rehabilitation. Later, she bought and ran the Diet Center of Concord for a number of years. Mandy was also a paralegal for an estate planning firm in Charlotte. Mandy was Town Clerk of Harrisburg while Martha Melvin was mayor. Briefly she was the Cafe Director for Eden Gardens.
Mandy enjoyed her college cooking classes and developed skills with foreign dishes specializing in French and Greek cuisine. An avid bridge player and novel reader, she also enjoyed needlepoint, decoupage, and camping. Mandy was adamant looking out for her family, foreseeing needs for their success. She loved to sew and made numerous clothes for the girls' dolls when they were young. Loving music she attended a dozen Emile Pandolfi concerts in the Carolinas. Mandy was an active band booster when Tammy (flags) and Catherine (trumpet) were in the Central Cabarrus Marching Band.
Mandy leaves her husband G. Roger Harvey, daughters Tammy Waterman, and Catherine Harvey, granddaughter Julie Waterman, sister Linda Davis, brother Hal "Woodie" Woodside, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special "Thank you!" to Concord Place Memory Care and Hospice for their exceptional care provided to Mandy the past few years.
The family will receive friends at Wilkinson Funeral Home Friday September 2nd, 3 - 5 pm.
