Albert Ray Turner

Mr. Albert Ray Turner passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at NorthEast Medical Center.

On October 6, 1939, Albert was born in Stanly County to the late Ray Fletcher and Annie Lauretta Kepley Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Lee Turner; sisters, Lillie Mae Auten Hatley and Vera Ruby Shores, Louise Blalock, and Nancy Evelyn Turner; and grandson, Travis Alan Turner.

Upon graduating from Hartsell High School, Class of 1957, he enlisted in the US Navy and was a Communications/Cryptologic Technician. He served his country22 years retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. CTOCS Turner received many awards and citations including the Vietnam Service and Navy Commendation Medals. Proceeding retirement with the US Navy he worked 23 years with the local cable company retiring from Time Warner Cable in 2004. He was a member of the American Legion Post #51 Concord.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Ann Bentley Turner; son, Carson and wife Betty of Myrtle Beach S.C.; daughter, Dianna Marie Edwards and husband Lee of Concord; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A 2pm Thursday service with military graveside rites will be conducted at Veteran’s National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 11:30am to 1pm Thursday at Wilkinson Funeral Home.
