Obituary

Mr. Robert Warren Brombacher, 89, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Concord Place.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Rocky River Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Neal Carter. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Robert was born on March 2, 1930 in Scranton, PA to the late Frederick and Beatrice Morris Brombacher. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Williams Brombacher; sisters, Lillian Harte, Virginia Bolen; brother, Frederick Brombacher.

Robert was a life-long journeyman tool and die maker. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where he served in the Korean Conflict and was a volunteer fireman at the Apalachin NY Fire Department for 20 years. He retired from IBM after 35 years and started working for Cabarrus County Schools in the maintenance department. Robert was a 33rd degree Mason with the Stokes Lodge for over 50 years, a past President of the Booster Club at Central Cabarrus High School and an Elder and choir member of Rocky River Presbyterian Church. He also loved cheering for the Boston Red Sox and anything Penn State was playing.

He is survived by his son, Mark Brombacher and wife Alexis; daughter, Lisa Brombacher; grandchildren, Erika and Anna Brombacher, Amanda and Michelle Helms, all of Concord.

I worked with Bob up in Endicott NY. He was part of a great team on the development of the IBM 3890 check sorter machine. He was also a key player in the Appalachin Firemans field days and always made sure my family was invited. I have fond memories of working with Bob.
