James Edward (Buck) Troutman, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, NC recently passed to his heavenly home from his residence on Friday, March 15, 2019 with his family by his side.

Buck was born on January 13, 1935, a son of the late Herman Harrison Troutman and the late Lois Catherine Scott Troutman; being preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Shirley Elizabeth Readling Troutman, who passed on September 21, 2018; and brothers, Boyd, Gene, Ernest, Don and Curtis Troutman and sister, Shirley Preslar.

Buck was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church. Instilling in his family a love of the mountains of North Carolina with its’ creeks, cloud-shaded vistas and wildflower dotted valleys; these mountains became a home away from home for Buck and his generations. His profession was that of a self-employed commercial contractor, and his late wife Shirley, the apple of his eye, was a registered nurse. His family takes solace in the notion that their father was a builder and mother was a healer.

Mr. Troutman is survived by his three daughters; Renee Steadman (Douglas), Selwyn Lang (Scott) and Emily Love (Ray); grandchildren, Candice Hopkins, Michelle Eckert (Andrew), William Moose (Andrea Patino), James Moose, Haley Love, Wesley Love and Ava Pope, and three great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Hopkins, Marli Hopkins and Vera Eckert.

Buck is also survived by his brothers, Grady, David, Bob and Scott Troutman and his sisters, Alice Crayton, Virginia Kowalsky, Shelby Long, Wanda Soots, Connie Draughn and Janet Patterson.

The funeral service for Mr. Troutman will be held at 12 noon, Monday, March 18th at Broadus Memorial Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Rodney Quesenberry. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17th at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A committal service will take place at Carolina Memorial Park Monday at 10:00 a.m.

I just found out on Tuesday evening! My life and building career was forever changed and totally enhanced by my association and friendship with Buck (& Shirley and the entire Troutman clan) since our "Laxton" days in 1970's and through managing & helping build 2 other construction companies. I am honored to have known Buck and anticipate seeing him again!
Please accept our sincere condolences , Aubrey and Carol Haigler

He completed the building of The Cornerstone condominiums in the mid 1980s. He undertook the project that was already in progress with a wealth of knowledge and dedication to getting the job done right. My husband was CEO of the bank holding the construction loan....and he thanked God every day for Buck Troutman!! I remember Mr. Troutman as kind and smiling and a true gentleman. Condolences to the family in the loss of their loved one.

To the Troutman family, please accept my condolences for this loss to your family.
Turning to God in prayer can help to deal with the sadness you’re feeling because prayer draws us close to him (James 4:8). He will provide the comfort and help that you need to get through this time. - Psalms 46:1
