Obituary

Mr. Charles Mason Deal, age 75, passed away December 23, 2018 at Atrium Health-Northeast.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Sharon Baptist Church. A service celebrating his life will follow at 12:30 pm with Rev. James Strickland officiating. An inurnment with military honors will be held at 2 pm at National Cemetery in Salisbury.

Charles was born September 19, 1943 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Haskell and Virginia Campbell Deal. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Margaret Helms.

Charles served our country in the US Army and the Army Reserves for over 24 years. He retired from Overnight Transportation and was a former security guard at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center, jobs he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a very dedicated and active member of Sharon Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and taught vacation bible school.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Joel Deal of Salisbury and Mike Deal of Charlotte; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and church family who will miss Charles dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Sharon Baptist Church, 2628 Shady Lane, Concord, NC 28027.

It was quite a shock to hear of your earthly departure from our dear friend, Grady Patton, but even through our sadness of your earthly departure, we as believers, rejoice that you are not longer suffering. You are healed, you are totally well and God's Eternal Home as gained another angel. I will always remember our times together, our talks we shared between each other and our numerous years of friendship. Both of us are so thankful that we were able to enjoy a meal with you, which was our last one at the K and W one Sunday. We will be lifting your family in prayer as they travel this personal journey in their lives. We will miss you Charlie but we will see you again one day in God's Eternal Home. Love and prayers to all.

Our Dearest Charlie, **Though we are sad you have left us ...we are delighted that you are in the arms of God, Happier, Healthier, and singing in the Heavenly choir. **We have many fond memories of your spontaneous sense-of-humor and kind gentle -heart. **Thank you for the beautiful "Footprints" that your Christian walk left in our lives... and we look forward to seeing you again in Heaven. **We have added some of our pictures of joyful memories with you as a way of remembering you. The first two pictures are of VBS (vacation Bible school) in August of 2017 when you were one of the helpers and the last photo is of our June 2018 seniors' Mayberry Trip to Mount Airy, North Carolina when you rode in the van with that crazy group of folks. Of course, you fit right in joking and laughing all along the way - even when we got lost on the trip - you joked about it and made the trip a pleasant one for everyone. We Will Miss You Charlies....big {{{HUGS}}}! With Much Love, Chris & Shelia Roseman

I wish you peace and comfort during this time of sorrow. (2 Corinthians 1:2-4) The Bible gives real hope of being reunited again with your loved one. It promises that your loved one will soon come back to life in the resurrection to a peaceful paradise on the earth. (John 5:28, 29) Sincerely, S. Ellis
