Thomas "Tom" Krug
Mr. Thomas A. Krug, 86, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at St. Andrews Assisted Living Center in Concord, NC.
A memorial mass will be held 12:30 pm, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. James The Greater Catholic Church, officiated by Father Jerome. Inurnment will follow at the St. James Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30-12:30 prior to the service at the church.
Tom was born on August 2, 1931 in Chillicothe, OH to the late Alphonse and Dorothy Cahill Krug. He is also preceded in death by his brother James "Jim" Krug and sister-in-law, Barbara "Bobbie" Krug.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Tom was an excellent student and set his sights on Notre Dame which his father had also attended. Tom graduated from Notre Dame in 1953 and soon after was drafted to serve his country in the United States Army. After his two years of service were completed Tom continued his education at another prestigious institution, Columbia University, where he completed a 1-year master program for business. After graduation, Tom quickly settled down with his then-wife, Frances where the two established a home in Connecticut. Tom worked for over 30 years as a Director at Cigna Life Insurance Company. In 1991 Tom retired and switched his focus to his 8 grandchildren where he constantly offered his loving support and care. Tom embodied the Fighting Irish spirit long past graduation and was the Alumni president for the local Hartford, CT Notre Dame club for nearly a decade. If Tom wasn't watching Fighting Irish Football or Basketball he was most likely volunteering for his church or taking pictures of nature. Family, Faith, and Football.
He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Thomas of New Hartford, CT, Tammy Disabella and husband, Peter, of New Hartford, CT; sons, Thomas F. Krug of Port Townsend, WA, Terry Krug and wife, Anne, of Concord, NC, Timothy Krug of Jacksonville, NC and their mother, Frances Krug; brother, Joseph Krug of Canton, OH; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Krug of FL; grandchildren, Alison Krug, Andrew Krug, Jeannine Krug, Anna Krug, Jake Thomas, Peter Disabella, Amanda Disabella, Sarah Disabella.
